Exciting Update from The Dale Earnhardt Environmental Leadership Campus

Statesville, NC – September 12, 2013
We are pleased to announce that the permit to impound the dam, at The Dale Earnhardt Environmental Leadership Campus, has been approved and the lake is currently being filled. The 25 acre lake will be the focal point of activities. Girl Scouts, along with Community and Corporate Guests, will have the opportunity to learn about the environment and the importance of preserving our natural habitat while visiting the campus. The lake is just part of the 700 acre campus which provides an amazing outdoor educational classroom that will be used for generations to come.

Photo shows the retaining wall created to separate the lake’s sandy beach from the natural areas.  This will be adapted for swimming.  The gradually graded area on the right is where boating and the dock will be located.  The water is starting to fill up the lake!
